A fine display by player manager Liam Watson inspired Runcorn to a well deserved victory. Watson who played a part in all three goals , Almost opened the scoring after nine minutes, but his powerful shot went just wide.

Runcorn dominated the first half & took the lead after 23 minutes through Gary Lunt. Watson picked the ball up on the left turned & unleashed a tremendous shot that rebounded off the post & Lunt was on hand to tap into the net. Towards the end of the first half Runcorn keeper Mark Winstanly was forced into action saving well from Pell & Domanic Morley.

Runcorn added to the lead after 57 mins when Robinson intercepted the ball & fed McAllister who helped the ball on to Watson . As Watson rounded the Droylsden keeper he was hauled  down by the keeper Philips who was then sent off. & from the resulting penalty Watson scored into the roof of the Droylsden goal. Runcorn made the game safe after 71 mins through McAllister, Substitute Chantler sent Watson clear on the left his cross being forced into the net by McAllister. Watson nearly added a fourth goal but his shot went into the side netting.

Droylsden,s consolation goal came in the final minute when former Runcorn player Anthony Calaghan scored with a fine free kick from the edge of the penalty area.
